The FIGUEROA LAW firm was founded in 2022 by attorney Dante Figueroa to primarily serve the Hispanic community in Maryland. Since then, Attorney Figueroa has represented numerous clients before various Maryland courts (Circuit and District).

He obtained his law degree in Chile in 1993, and holds two master’s degrees in law, one from the University of Chile and the other from American University in Washington, D.C.

Attorney Figueroa has three decades of solid experience in the legal field, both in Latin America and the United States, primarily as a litigator before various courts. In Maryland, in particular, Attorney Figueroa has extensive experience in court hearings gained through years of forensic work.

Based on this experience, Attorney Figueroa is genuinely prepared to understand and assist in resolving disputes involving legal concepts that must be explained in more than one language. His solid professional experience allows him to understand the complexities of the multicultural aspects involved in matters and disputes involving clients from diverse backgrounds.

Figueroa’s home office is equipped with state-of-the-art digital technology, enabling him to conduct high-quality videoconference hearings and meetings with parties located in various locations.

 
 
 

Biographical Summary

Dante Figueroa is a U.S. citizen and holds several legal diplomas in civil and U.S. law. He earned his law degree from the University of Concepción Law School in Chile in 1993 and holds two Master of Laws degrees: one from the University of Chile in 1999 and another from Washington College of Law in 1997. He is fluent in Spanish, English, French, and Italian, with an intermediate level of German and a basic knowledge of Portuguese. Since 2001, he has served as an arbitrator, counsel, and expert witness in numerous international and domestic arbitration cases. He has authored seven books (two of which have received awards from the Inter-American Bar Association) and fifty-two articles published in the United States, Latin America, and Europe, in four languages. He was an Adjunct Professor at Washington College of Law, where he taught International Business Transactions (2004-2014), and at Georgetown University Law Center, teaching Comparative Law (2010-2014). He was a Founding Partner of Woss & Partners, PLLC (2013-2019), Latin American Editor of the Transnational Dispute Management (TDM) Journal, and Co-Chair of the Steering Committee of the International Law Section of the Washington, D.C. Bar Association. He practiced law for over a decade in Chile in both the public and private sectors. In the public sector, he served as legal director for two counties and for the regional office of a regional government agricultural development agency, and as an attorney for Chile's international cooperation agency. In the private sector, he worked as an associate attorney for a multinational law firm, focusing his practice on commercial and financial transactions in the areas of infrastructure, energy, real estate, fuels and gas, telecommunications, and government concessions. He also served as general counsel for the Chilean branches of two multinational corporations in the sanitation and tire manufacturing sectors. He prepared arguments and strategies for litigation in Chilean courts and in New York and California in a case involving the non-payment of a multimillion-dollar promissory note for a U.S. telecommunications company, and for arbitration before the World Bank’s International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes. He has also served as a consultant and advisor to law firms in the Washington, D.C. area.
